Takes stock of performance of de-addiction centers in district

Contemplates to enhance capacity of District Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Center: Ashika Jain

While stating this, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain on Friday reviewed the functioning of drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centres in district from civil, police and health departments officials. She directed all the line departments to work in close coordination so that better results could be gained as administration would make all our efforts to bring addicts to main stream. She said skill training is being imparted to addicts at District De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre so that they could be made self employed after shunning drugs.

The Deputy Commissioner also pointed out that necessary steps were underway to enhance the existing capacity of the District Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Center so as to further improve the rehabilitation activities. She also emphasised that the visits to these centres including OOAT clinics across district should be a regular feature by concerned officials, which would be helpful in making necessary reforms and putting more facilities in place. She said that Information, Education and Communication (IEC) should be focused so that people could be sensitised about the adverse affect of drugs on health and life. She asked the health officials to disseminate about IEC activities for making maximum people aware about the same. She also instructed the officials to further intensify awareness and rehabilitation activities to contain the menace efficiently.
