ITIHAS SYSTEM WILL IMPROVE CONTACT TRACING & SURVEILANCE OF COVID POSITIVE CASES- DC APNEET RIYAIT

SAYS 10 REGIONS WITH ‘VERY HIGH SEVERITY’ & 16 OF ‘HIGH SEVERITY’ IN DISTRICT 

HEALTH TEAMS MAPPED ALL HOTSPOTS FOR ACTIVE SAMPLING & TESTING 

HOSHIARPUR, JULY 30: After having successfully limiting the spread of the Covid-19 till now,  the District Administration is now fully prepared to take the battle against Coronavirus to the next level with ITIHAS system. 

Disclosing this here today, Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait stated that currently there were 10 regions of very high severity and 16 regions of high severity in the district. All areas have been mapped by Health teams for active sampling and testing, she added.

In a bid to further improve its contact tracing and surveillance of corona positive cases, Riyait said that District Administration would soon be using the ITIHAS system, coupled with COVA and Arogya Setu app. As per the recommendations of the Government, the District Administration is all set to strengthen the Covid-19 surveillance response under which the use of COVA, Arogya Setu and ITIHAS system for cluster projection forms a key component.

Giving further details, Riyait said that the ITIHAS app coupled with the COVA system would be capable of tracking the movement of the cases and their contacts. This system would immensely benefit from projecting a cluster development. The data provided in the portal is filtered to identify probable places where corona hotspots can emerge in the near future, said the Deputy Commissioner adding that available data has been categorized into 4 regions with severity ranging from Very High, High, Moderate and Low.

She pointed out that the administration had identified regions where the probability of the spread of corona is very high and high. Initially, the main focus will be on containing the spread of this pandemic in the areas categorized as having very high and high severity. The next step will be to limit the probability of moderate and low severity zones from turning into regions of high or very high severity.
