HOSHIARPUR, AUGUST 16 (ADESH): In view of the rising number of COVID cases, the Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait has urged the people to strictly adhere to the health and safety protocols so that the further spread of the virus could be contained effectively, which was only be possible with the cooperation of the public.
Unified efforts are need of the hour in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic under the ‘Mission Fateh’ launched by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in the larger public interest, she added.
The Deputy Commissioner said that people should not get panicky but they will have to be more cautious and vigilant in this tough time.
In an appeal, Riyait said that early awareness and early detection could lead in early treatment vis-a-via breaking the chain of the virus. She said that to achieve this goal strict adherence to health and safety protocols should be maintained with proper wearing of masks and washing hands frequently especially following social distancing directions in these trying circumstances.
Giving details of the COVID cases so far, Apneet Riyiat said that 36700 samples had been tested negative while as many as 616 positive COVID patients had been cured successfully in the district. She said that the administration was fighting the contagion at the forefront and fully geared to tackle any exigency. She said that mass awareness drive to sensitize the people about COVID guidelines and health protocols was underway as part of Mission Fateh.
Meanwhile, the Civil Surgeon Dr. Jasvir Singh said 39772 samples had been collected so far for COVID testing and 985 samples were taken today. He said that today reports of 1042 samples received today.
He said that with new 43 positive cases the number of Corona positive cases had reached to 827. He stated that there were 188 active cases while the reports of 3227 samples were pending besides 61 invalid samples. He said that 23 fatalities have been registered so far.
