Parent-Teacher Meetings starts in government schools, Parents of around 27 lakh students expected to participate
Chandigarh, 14 September
only continued imparting quality education to the students of government schools but has also taken the exams of the students. Now the education department has started the Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) to evaluate the steps taken in the field of education. Parents of more than 27 lakh students are expected to participate in these meetings.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Punjab School Education Department said that The online PTMs has started today and will run for a week till September 19. During this period parents of the students will be educated about the importance of online learning. At the same time their problems will be identified and suggestions will be sought for further improvement in the education of their children. In addition, issues like Mid Day Meal, Book Distribution, supplementary material, Punjab Educare app, and health of children will also be discussed and parents will be informed about Covid-19 epidemic. At present there are 26,95,424 students in government schools from pre-primary to class XII.
Due to better performance of government schools, the enrollment in these schools has increased by 14.55 per cent this year. The number of students in government schools in 2019 was 23,52,112 which has increased to 26,94,424 this year.
