HOSHIARPUR, MAY 26: In order to save forests and ensure preservation of natural resources under the Puncampa scheme of the Punjab Government, Industry and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora on Wednesday distributed gas connections among 33 beneficiaries at Dada village in Kandi region. These connections will enable beneficiaries to complete their domestic works through LPG instead of using wood as fuel.

While handing over gas connections, Industry and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora said that Punjab Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (PUNCAMPA) had been launched to save the trees and reduce the pollution caused by wood when used as fuel by the people to cook food. He assured the village panchayat that gas connections would also be provided to all those remaining beneficiaries, who didn’t get today.

Arora said that saving forests was need of the hour for which special efforts are taken by the Forest Department of government from time to time. He said that human life has a strong connection with nature and we should all come forward to protect so that the trees are not unnecessarily cut down.
