HOSHIARPUR, SEPTEMBER 17: The second General House meeting of the local Municipal Corporation held here on Thursday with approval of 29 developmental works to be completed at a cost of Rs. 395.54 lakh under Punjab Nirman Programme.

Mayor Surinder Kumar, Senior Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini and Deputy Mayor Ranjeet Chaudhary accompanied by the other councillors were present in the meeting. Under the able guidance of Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora, the pace of development works would also be accelerated in days to come.

Giving details of the meeting, the Commissioner Municipal Corporation Aashika Jain said that besides 29 works the House also decided to develop 10 parks, 7 metal led roads including Kamalpur Chowk to Government College Chowk, Forest Rest House Road, Main road from Suraj Nagar to Maharana Partap Bhavan etc. It was also decided that 47 works under UEIP-III would be accomplished at a cost of Rs. 8.01 Crore. The meeting has also taken decision of maintenance of pink toilets near bus stand to be entrusted to Sulabh International with no user charges to be levied. A resolution was also passed in the meeting for hiring two persons for upkeep of newly inaugurated Cycle Track and increasing its operational hours for public benefit.
