The Department of Education has started the fifth week of the ‘100 Day Reading Campaign’
Special enthusiasm shown by students and teachers for this reading campaign
HOSHIARPUR, FEBRUARY 1: The fifth week of 100 days reading campaign started by the
education department for language proficiency of students has started.
Giving information about this Er. Sanjeev Gautam District Education Officer (EE) Hoshiarpur
said that tremendous response from students and teachers to the ‘100 Day Reading Campaign’
being run by the department for the development of language skills of students under ‘Padho
Punjab Padhao Punjab’ project. Is getting Four weeks have passed since this campaign.
According to Sukhwinder Singh, Deputy District Education Officer (E.E.), under the fifth week of
this campaign, ‘Kahani Meri Jubani’ activity will be conducted among the students from pre-
primary to second class and from third class to fifth class. Under this activity a short story will be
heard from the students. Stories can be taken from student textbooks / slides / library books to
prepare for this activity.
Harminder Pal Singh District Coordinator Pado Punjab Padhao Punjab said that students will be
given to read the story. This story will be discussed and students will be asked to tell this story
in their own words. This will not only give the students a chance to pronounce the language
correctly but also give them a sense of confidence through self-expression of their thoughts.
Students as well as their parents will be involved in this activity. They will ensure that students
are participating in this activity. They can get information from the students about the story and
the book taken from the library and also correct the mistakes by listening to the story from the
students.
It is noteworthy that under this reading campaign, the education department has so far
conducted various activities in the last four weeks. Students from pre-primary to second grade
visit the library in the first week and tell a story in a circle, make a list of flowers, fruits and
vegetables in the second week, recite children’s songs / poems in the third week , Read the
story / do the lessons together in the fourth week. Activities
The department has organized 3rd to 5th class students to visit the library in the first week and
tell a story by forming a circle, reading together in the second week, story by poem in the third
week and story activities from the fourth week. The department will also encourage special
performing students under this campaign.
