PUNJAB GOVT DECLARES HOLIDAY AS MARK OF RESPECT TO FORMER CM PARKASH SINGH BADAL
Chandigarh, April 26:
Punjab Government today announced a holiday on Thursday (April 27) in honour of former Punjab Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal patriarch S. Parkash Singh Badal, who passed away on Tuesday evening at a private hospital in SAS Nagar (Mohali). Earlier, the State Government had declared two-day state mourning on April 26 and April 27.
Giving this information, an official spokesperson said that all government offices, Boards, Corporations and educational institutions in Punjab will remain closed on April 27 as a mark of respect to the former Chief Minister.
During the ongoing state mourning, the National flag will be flown at half-mast and no entertainment program will be organised by any office or department of the state government during these two days. The General Administration department has issued the notifications in this regard.
