World No Tobacco Day’ celebrated at Labour Shed, Clock Tower, by District Drug De-addiction Rehabilitation Centre, Hoshiarpur

Hoshiarpur (CDT NEWS), As per the instructions of Mrs. Komal Mittal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner-Cum-Chairperson, District Drug De-addiction Rehabilitation Society, Hoshiarpur and under the able leadership of Dr. Harbans Kaur, Deputy Medical Commissioner-Cum-Member Secretary, ‘World No Tobacco Day’ was celebrated at Labour Shed, Clock Tower. A human chain was formed by Dr. Harbans Kaur DMC, Prashant Aadia Counsellor, Sandeep Kumari Psychological Counsellor, Tania Psychologist Counsellor, Rajwinder Kaur Counsellor from District Drug De-addiction Rehabilitation Center Hoshiarpur on this occasion.

On this occasion all the labourer of the labour shed, street vendors, shopkeepers and general public were made aware about the ill effects of tobacco and the cancers caused by it and were administered the pledge to keep themselves and their family members tobacco free.

This time the theme of World Health Organization for 2024 is ” Protecting Children from Tobacco Industry Interference”. Today while giving information regarding the COTPA Act under the theme of World No Tobacco Day today, it was said that Sale of tobacco in public places is prohibited, Selling cigarettes to children below 18 years of age is an offence,

if a person asks a child to bring cigarette or tobacco, it is an offence. The accused person can be fined or punished or both. On this occasion all the staff members and workers took a pledge to “not consume any kind of tobacco products throughout the life and also make their relatives and friends aware about the ill effects of tobacco”. During this, a message was also conveyed to fulfill one’s responsibility by voting on June 1.
