Hoshiarpur, November 19 (Adesh Parminder) : As many as 205 polling parties along with EVMs, other polling materials and security personnel have been dispatched to conduct voting in Chabbewal Vidhan Sabha constituency on November 20 i.e. Wednesday.

       Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Komal Mittal, who visited the dispatch location and briefed the polling staff to ensure free, fair and transparent voting, stated that each polling party was comprised of four personnel including one presiding officer, one assistant presiding officer and two polling officers. The voting will start at 7 am and concluded at 6 pm, she added.

       Deputy Commissioner also urged all the voters of constituency to cast their votes for further strengthen the democratic values. She also pointed out that the there would be local holiday in the government offices, boards, corporations, educational institutions in the district. She mentioned that the workers working in registered factories, shops and other establishment having votes in the Chabbewal assembly segment could get the paid holiday to cast their votes. She also pointed out that the industrial units in the district including Sonalika, Hawkins, Quantum Paper Mills etc. had also annoucned paid holiday for those workers, who have votes in the constituency. She said that all necessary arrangments had already been put in place along with technical expert to rectify snag, if any in the EVMs. She said all the voters queued up in the lines till 6 pm could cast their votes.  

       Meanwhile, SSP Surendra Lamba said that foolproof security arrangments were put in place as well as deployment of securtiy personnel in sufficient numbers. He said that nearly 1500 police personnel including para-military forces had been put on poll duty of which 650 personnel were deployed in the constituency besides others had been given durites at patrolling, checking and nakas. As many as 25 locations have been identified as vulnerable, where special focus will be laid to ensure free, fair and transparent voting, he added.   

       The SSP said that the political parties had also been instructed to install their votes not within the limit of 200 meters from the polling stations. The constituency has 205 polling stations with 159432 voters including 83704 male and 75724 female besides four transgender voters.
