GURDASPUR (AVINASH) The Shiv Sena Hindutan North India chief Honey Mahajan of India attempted to shoot late in the evening by unidentified assailants. In the shootout, Honey Mahajan was shot in the leg while Dariwal, a resident of Dhariwal Kariana Merchant Ashok Kumar, son of Jagdish Raj, died after being shot in the head.
According to the information received late night, Honey Mahajan was sitting at his shop located on Dadwan Road at around 6.30 pm when suddenly the attackers on a two-wheeler reached the shop and started shooting at him, seeing Honey Mahajan alone. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers fired around five-six rounds. In this firing, a bullet was fired on Honey Mahajan’s leg while both were seriously injured due to a bullet on the head of Ashok Kumar standing near him. After firing, the attackers escaped from the spot.
Honey Mahajan and Ashok Kumar, who were injured in this firing, were immediately rushed to the civil hospital Gurdaspur where Ashok Kumar died while Honey Mahajan was referred to Amritsar Hospital in view of the serious condition. As soon as the information of the attack was received, Manjit Singh, in-charge of Police Station Dhariwal, reached the spot with the Police Force.
